A Little Stinker

K has figured out where her little farts are coming from. Every time she releases some gas, Len and I always smile and clap, which she loves.

Now that she knows that she is the one producing the fun sounds that are coming from her behind, after she farts, she leans to one side and tries to squeeze one more out. Quite often she's successful, which makes us all laugh hysterically.

12-Hour Sleep

At almost 15 months, K has finally slept through the night!!! Hooray!

She took only one nap yesterday and was extremely tired in the evening. We put her down at 7.30pm, and she slept 'til 7.30 this morning.

The Cruise

Len's 40th birthday was coming up. We decided to celebrate by going on a cruise. We left from LA on Sunday, January 11th, and came back a week later - Sunday, January 18th. Destination? Mexico.

For weeks we battled with the idea whether we should fly to LA or drive. I can't remember all the pros and cons we came up for both, but eventually we decided to drive. We left at 4 am on Sunday. I drove since someone had to sit in the back with K, and I get car sick when sitting in the back. The drive was awesome. Dark and foggy most of the way but I didn't mind. There is something about driving that I adore. I used to tease Len that if I had to change my profession one day, I'd become a truck driver.

Right before leaving for LA, we got a new car seat for K. We were quite nervous about the 6-hour drive, but it turned out, K loved her new seat and slept in it for most of the time.
During the entire cruise, K was a champ. Maybe the fact that everyone wanted to talk to and play with her helped. She definitely was in a center of attention most of the time.
Here we are getting on the boat and leaving LA.

First stop - Puerto Vallarta
where we took a very informational and tasty Tequila Tour.
In between ports, our cruise ship entertained us in various ways. There were shows, concerts, games and a lot of good food.
And then there was K entertaining us non-stop:
I have to say that we really enjoyed having our room refreshed/cleaned twice a day - what a treat! And I loved different towel decorations every night:
Second stop - Mazatlan.
For just $1 per person (K didn't count), we were able to watch this:

The last stop - Cabo San Lucas
We only had a half of a day here, but it was our favorite place. We went snorkeling at Lovers' Beach.

When the water taxi people heard K's name, they took us to the beach on their special boat.

K slept through most of the day.

She's somewhere in that pile... well protected from the sun:Here are our favorite crew members: Mirela and Mile
A lot of times they helped us with K while we were eating dinner. K was in seventh heaven!
And, they remembered about K's 1st birthday. They brought some ice-cream with a candle and sang Happy Birthday to her; it was VERY thoughtful!
It was very hard to end our trip. This was one of best vacations we've had so far.

...or as we like to call her - Our Little C.eline D.ion:

First Shoes

Although K has received many pairs of shoes from friends and family, this pair was special because first of all it fit her (many other pairs were too small even when she was born), and second of all, she learned how to walk in them.

Well, not only is she growing out of them, but the other day, daddy stepped on the little whiskers while picking K up and ended the life of K's first shoes.

Dirty Mouth

One word explains this picture: blackberries.

K's First Words

K's favorite (OK, most often used) word is mama. She keeps saying it over and over especially when I'm not in her sight. So, when I go to the bathroom or bedroom, I hear "Mama, mama, mama".

Her second word is more. She uses it while eating. I usually cut up food into small pieces for her, and when I'm not fast enough leaving her tray empty for a few seconds, she screams "MORE"!

K loves to play with her balls. And, although Len and I usually use the Polish word 'pileczka' to refer to a ball, she somehow picked up the English, much shorter version of it, and simply says: ball.

The other day we went to T.arget. Right in front of the store, there are (as part of the decoration) big round red objects. Every time we passed one, K pointed to it with her finger and said: "Ball."

Sleeping Business

Right after K broke her nose, we had a couple of rough nights where she'd wake up every hour. This left me sick (I caught a bad cold that was later passed on to Len) and exhausted.

Since then, however, she's been 'almost' sleeping through the night. In 12 hours of her sleep, she still wakes up once every night, but yesterday, for example, she woke up at 10.30 pm, was fed, went back to sleep and didn't wake up until 8am. That means that I slept through the night - the first time within the last ...18 months (the last few months of the pregnancy consisted of sleepless nights because of the constant bathroom visits).

I'm not sure if her not getting up at night has anything to do with this, but K hasn't taken her afternoon nap within the last 2 days. Would this be the end of her 2nd nap? ... because I'm not ready for it. I have her nap times planned out for the rest of the year!

PS. We were so lucky to have K sleep from 7.30pm to 9am every night for months. Now she gets up at 7.30am which comparing to 9am feels like the middle of the night!
